The life of a virtual crow.

To populate the world of The Lost Crown with birds is no small challenge. The winding warren of streets that form Saxton should be filled with the sound of Seagulls, while the dark sinister graveyard of Northfield should harbour the blackest of crows, watching from the Yew tress and crumbling tombs. Both these species of bird are often thought of as vermin, and are 'controlled' by the authorities. In my case, I would be doing the complete opposite for The Lost Crown, by encouraging the feathered fiends to flourish in their virtual habitats.

To accomplish this, I utilised Curious Labs (formally Metacreation) Poser 6 Studio. This software application is very familiar with many game developers, especially those working within tight (or nonexistent) budgets. Realistic human characters can be created for games, but few seem to know that it is also perfect for creating startling virtual wildlife. In my case, I worked upwards using a bird character with imported custom textures to suit the mood and colour scheme of a particular scene. Being able to pose your virtual wildlife is any way you wish is an absolute treat for an artist.
