Entertainment:
The Museum is a fascinating, if gloomy, venue to provide enlightenment
and entertainment. Of the many exhibits, The Saxton Monster,
Anglo-Saxon helmet and Saxton Skeleton are worthy of note.
The latter is an eerie sight; a mystery corpse, found exposed
in undergrowth in The Carrion Wood. No-one, not a soul, knows
the identity of the stranger.
Also in the museum, be sure to view period footage of the
town in the film room, or try one of the new 'interactive
panels', installed by the Hadden Corporation in recent times.
If you are looking for something more lively, we heartily
recommend an evening at The Bear. Weekends often see the ancient
Inne packed with drunken revelers; singing sea shanties, folk
songs or remembering a twice told tale or ghost story. If
visiting the town in late April, you should not miss the towns
May Day Fayre. In olden times, the fayre provided an opportunity
for trade and exhibition of farm animals and machinery, but
recent times have seen an increase in New Age stalls, fortune
telling and other esoterica. Food is provided by local handyman,
Bob Tawny. Roasts are his specialty. |
