Dining:
Saxton prides itself on it's local produce, especially
it's seafood. For you see, not all the lobsters leave the
town for the hungry mouths of the Londoners. The best stay
right here, to be served up in one of Saxton's two eateries;
The Bear Inne & The Lighthouse Cafe.
The Bear has stood, rather precariously, by the harbour side
for over 300 years. Thankfully, service and hygiene have moved
on a little since then, so you can expect a warm, and satisfying
evening in The Bears snugglesome embrace. Sample
Menu.
Alternatively, Saxton's 'Lighthouse' offers smaller plates
for the lunchtime diner, as well as local
specialities. Tucked away in the backstreets and alleyways,
near the museum; The Lighthouse is always welcoming to new
visitors.
If self-catering, tourists can rest assured knowing that much
of the local produce is available to buy at the Saxton Food
Store, or at Wednesday's Farmers Market. Fresh Northfield
Apples, grown in Northfield for over 200 years, are a taste
to amaze even the most well traveled palette. |
