Jonathan Boakes created the first Dark
Fall game, back in 2000, adding Lights
Out,
Lost Souls and Ghost Vigil over the years, to create a series of supernatural
ghost-hunting games set in abandoned or isolated locations: an old
hotel, a island based lighthouse, a return to the hotel for Lost
Souls on to Harwood House, an abandoned formal country house, later used as an 80s children’s home.
Storm Warning takes the adventure gamer back out to sea,
down the Bazalgette Pier. The location is based on Jonathan's love
of old British Piers, from the Victorian and Edwardian Era. Many
rainy days were spent on Hastings Pier, back in the 80's, usually
around November, when the place was rain lashed by storms. "Plenty
of that atmosphere is present in the new Dark Fall", says Jonathan,
"the Bazalgette Pier closed down in 1988, after a mixed history
dating back to its construction, in 1894. So expect 'nostalgia'
element to be omnipresent, it's the actual villain in this new Dark
Fall."
